Jobst Landgrebe discusses his book “Why Machines Will Never Rule the World: Artificial Intelligence without Fear” (co-authored by Barry Smith), in which he explains why the notion of super-intelligent computers subjugating humanity should not frighten us. He contends that constructing machine-based AI necessitates a mathematical model, and if we desire to construct something equivalent or even superior to human intelligence, we require a mathematical model of the human mind. However, since the human mind-body continuum is a complicated system, we cannot have a mathematical model of it that is sufficiently excellent to enable such an emulation. Therefore, AI nightmares of AI overlords are merely science fiction fantasies that will not come to pass.
